Selmer Reference 54 Serial Numbers Rating: 3,1/5 6089 reviews

Model 74 Selmer (Reference 54) Bb Tenor Saxophone: Inspired by the Mark VI model released in 1954, Selmer presents the Reference 54 tenor saxophone. An tenor saxophone that integrates the Mark VI's legendary acoustic characteristics with innovative modern keywork.

Reference

The Reference tenor takes its inspiration from a 1958 mid-70,000 serial number Mark VI. Musicians and aficionados consider these the most valuable (other than David Sanborn who prefers later models). The Reference plays and feels like a vintage Selmer, including longer bell to improve Intonation and a dark, warm lacquer finish. In fact, one of the professionals at IAJE back in January had a 76,000 Mark VI. Comparing them side-by-side we all thought that the Reference possessed a fuller, richer sound than that particular VI. Acoustics: Reference body style-full sound -Necks: Reference bore -Construction: ribs -Body material: Matte finish over yellow brass -Mouthpiece: Super Session -Mechanism: compact key positioning - closer to the body and directly under the hand -Range: high F# key, Front F key: spatula -Left-hand thumb rest: plastic -Right-hand thumb rest: metal adjustable -Adjusting screws: high F, G# key, F#/G# lug, F#/G#, adjusting bar, low C#, low B, side C, side Bb -Pivot screws: tapered -Needle springs: blued steel -Pads: treated leather with metal resonators -Hand-engraved bell -Shaped flight case.

Jan 26, 2017  Re: Selmer Reference 54 Serial Number Question Since the original message in this thread isn't that old thought I'd mention this. Shejrhoi loik sherali dar vasfi modar2667758. I'm looking for a Mark VI bari and was directed to one on DHGate which, not surprisingly, has the identical numbers as pablop's tenor.
